This website has been sitting unused for the better part of a year. There are many reasons for this so I thought what better way for this to begin than to look back at why this has been the case.

This is intended to be an artists website, as we are all told at University that it is something every artist must have as part of our personal promotion. I have looked at many artist websites and most have the same basic content which can be reduced to;

a. Where the artist has studied
b. Where the artist has shown their work
c. A short biography of the said artist
d. Examples of the artists work.

No matter how pretty these sites are, they all follow this format. Reading this sort of info made it seem as if all these individuals are very much the same, which of course they are not.

I drafted many different versions of the standard procedure site and they simply did not look right to me. It was like being made to wear a suit when I only wear jeans and t-shirts. I did not want to join the millions of look alike websites out there. This became several months of frustration and empty content here at lukeadamsinclair.com. I am also still a bit unsure of my domain name being my name as I do not go around introducing myself as Luke Adam Sinclair, Artist. I am of course, but it seems conceited. I will now have to live with it as I paid for the domain.

Blogging interests me. If you follow a blog you get to know more about the blogger and a sort of relationship grows from the understanding you gain through reading the thoughts of these individuals. I signed up for three separate blog sites thinking I would be able to use them for a number of reasons. They remain empty. I sat in front of them many times and have not been able to do anything. Why? To be totally honest I am not sure. I have a list of reasons that become excuses very quickly. This has had to come to an end.

My artist website is now a blog. This way it can be up to date and show those who choose to read it some part of who I am. My medium of choice as an artist is primarily two dimensional. Paints, pencils, collage etc. There will of course be posted examples of the work but I want words to go with them. This site will be similar to my visual diaries. Don’t expect there to be a gallery of finished artworks ready for exhibition. That to me is like the end result of the whole process. I enjoy and find the process more important than the finished product.

I admit that copyright violation scares the poop out of me as there is way too much theft of intellectual property on the internet. I have no way to be sure that what I do won’t be ripped off by some silly design firm so I will do my best not to think about it. Also, who am I kidding? I doubt that this site will be found by many.

Now that I have outlined what this website is, and what it is not (sort of), I will reluctantly cover one of the things that is in every other artist website. Its the mandatory education part. I will only state this here once and if I am ever asked about it they will need to look back at this post. I am a graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts (now VCAM). My B/A major is Painting. I completed this in 2007. I also hold a Graduate Diploma of Education from the University of Melbourne completed in 2008. Done. I have had exhibitions but I will not include those here. I will only give details on upcoming events.

That covers the beginning. I have a few images to add but that has to wait till I have time to scan them. Any questions and comments are welcome.
